About book Psychiatric Tales (2010)

For someone like me, who loves learning about abnormal psychology, this book was pretty nice. It was short, and the info is pretty basic, but it has one thing I think makes it a good read: experience. I have read a lot of text books or encyclopedias on all the subjects in this book but because this is a real person writing what he experienced I did learn some new things. If you read a lot about psychology then this is a good book for experience sake, and if you don't read much about stuff like this, this is a good read to get some insight on mental illness. It talks a lot about the stigma on mental illness and how harmful it is. So if you see it on a shelf, pick it up. Plot: BWriting: AVocabulary: BLevel: EasyRating: PG13 (stories about various mental health conditions, suicide, cutting, delusions)Worldview: Mentally ill people are rarely murderers. They should seek professional help to manage their condition. They're still people, not just an illness. You know someone with a mental illness. The people who care about them are affected too. This graphic novel does an excellent job of introducing various mental illnesses and how people are affected by them. The visual layout really conveys some of the emotional and physical impact of life with such a condition that words alone can't do justice to. I highly recommend this book for the general public, medical students & professionals, and anyone who knows a person with a mental illness.
