This was even better than the first... The action sequences are fantastic, the characters become more real and complex page by page, while never losing their essence, the core that made them enjoyable in the first place. New characters keep the story alive, new locales lend spice and intrigue, and through it all, Drothe and Degan's relationship forms the core of a fantastic series. I'm just upset that I'll have to wait a long while before the next book. Considering the fast pace and fantastic plot twists of Among Thieves, I was steeling myself for disappointment at the second book in the series. Needless to say by my rating, this book blew my expectations out of the water. Sworn in Steel expanded on likable characters, added some new ones, and maintained the richness of the culture and language Hulick created in AT. As a series, Tales of the Kin is fast rising towards the top of my favorite list.

Far better than previous book. Keeps you guessing at times, but smooth flow of story. A decent read.
