About book Profiler: A Minha Vida A Perseguir Psicopatas E Serial Killers (2011)

A different look at the way homicides and assault cases are handled. Pat talks of her children help her if need be. Pat began researching when a nurse on the health line told her to keep pushing the police and da that they hab,ve the wrong sus-pect. Pat had allowed a stranger to rent a room. When a girl dies, it arouses her innerself to start searching. She left no stone unturned. As I love murder mysteries, this is atmazing to see how a profiler works and how her judgement of how these cases were eerie but still someone,s daughter. good book The premise of this book is quite interesting; a housewife whose curiosity about a murder that occurred in her small town led her into a "career" of criminal profiling. What is disappointing is that this premise is rather misleading. Instead of this woman becoming a criminal profiling through the efforts of a career in criminal investigation that would affiliate her with any law enforcement agency, she is someone who "self-taught" herself the process of criminal profiling. None of the cases she mentions in this book were solved according to her profiles. None of the cases she mentions were brought to her by law enforcement officials. At one point, she discusses that families of victims are often at a loss when an investigation comes to an end, often they are unable to agree with or believe in what the law enforcement officials gave as a conclusion. She points out that many of these families seek out the assistance of psychics to try to put the puzzle together and gain some closure. From my reading of this book, she's no more qualified than any psychic to help develop any kind of proper conclusion herself. She spends a great deal of time discussing all the possibilities, as well as criticizing the law enforcement system and the justice system. She makes several allusions to professional FBI criminal profiling (including one of the agents who helped to CREATE the concept of criminal profiling) being a faulty system. She insults the investigating police and detectives in almost every case she brings up. She seems to be rather full of herself in her own work, yet shows no results from it. I was highly disappointed in this book and almost didn't finish reading it because of her loose attempts at "profiling" the crimes she "worked on". As far as a recommendation, I see no reason for anyone to read this book, particularly not if they have real interests in true crime and criminal profiling.
