Kinda boring. Feels like she spends more time introducing the next leads and relationships in the series than moving the plot along. The main character is also rather poorly developed. A kind person who starts off the book hearing a poor victim calling for help. Which she doesn't refer to again until a meeting in chapter 12. It's hard to believe she's so empathetic when her kinda boring drama was enough to keep her from mentioning the victim to the alpha team for potential rescue. She doesn't even mention it until they are planing their own internally generated mission to infiltrate the facility. Poor guy was really lucky. She's also just not really like able. The lore is also poorly introduced. She also immediately trusts everything. They didn't bother with a scenario in which they would prove their goodness to her. She's barely at the compound for a day before she is persuading the fae to trust these good people. No justification provided. She was terrified then one good night sleep was sold. The author relies too much on discussions to develop the characters. What little development occurs. An amazingly, fast paced paranormal romance novel! Not only does it have everything that makes a good paranormal romance - shifters, wolves, sorcerers, ect. - it has the exceedingly hot men and the burning passion of the featured couple in the story. The plot line is very interesting, it keeps you guessing where things are heading, from situations getting bad to worse for the couple. Things were not looking good for Kira Locke and Jaxon Law. What really impressed me was that J.D. Tyler put one of her main characters life on the brink, right on the edge of no return, and not too many writers out there put their main characters life so close to death. I really thought that, that character had died, and I was in shock - horrified really. How could we lose one of the important people to the story? But that proved to me that J.D.Tyler wasn't just writing a plain romance novel with paranormal beings. No, it was teaching us through the characters, about love and passion, pain and anguish, and loss of life. The raw emotions, the ones that matter.I highly enjoyed reading this novel. Five stars for me.
