About book Pocketful Of Eyes (2011)

This novel is about a girl, Beatrice Ross, "Bee" who works in the taxidermy lab at the Museum of Natural History. Her boss is then murdered, at least they thought he was. Bee decides she wants to find out why Gus (her boss) had died, so she decides to be like her favourite detectives in novels she has read. A twist at the end of this novel, which will leave you wondering after the last page. An intreging book, full of mystery, suspense and a touch of romance between Bee and Toby (her partner in the taxidermy lab). "A Pocketful of Eyes" is the first proper detective novel that I've ever read, and I honestly really enjoyed it. The pace of the book was great, not too slow/boring and not too quick either. This book was engaging and very, very funny. I really enjoyed Toby's awkward trivias about animals, (most of the time animal mating!) It really was hilarious, some of the random stuff Toby would say at the most inconvienient of times! :)I loved how the author made the reader suspicious of all the characters as Bee,the main character and girl detective of this story, shares her theories and observations about the death of her supervior Gus (at the taxidermy lab at a museum, the place she works at during summer holidays)The mystery and suspense was cleverly written and the massive twist at the end, made the book even more worthwhile.I absoutely loved the characters: Bree, I though she was a great main character. She is determined, intelligent and very relatable. Toby, i thought he was ADORABLE! A hot nerd with a PhD, nice! This character definately made the book humorous and fun. I loved all his quirky trivia statements.:)Gus, Willam Cranston, Adrian Featherstone and Akiko Kobayshi: These side characters made the mystery, "a mystery". They were the reason for all the suspicion and they all played a big part in the investigation in the end. Angela and the Celestial Badger(Neal): I thought these characters made Bree a relatable character. It was good to see Bree's home life with her mother (a middle aged girl gamer) and her new boyfriend Neal. They gave Bree a background and a realistic side to the story.Anyways..... I highly recommend this book to teenagers who love cute, simple mysteries with a cute romance! :)
