I've been a longtime fan of this author and while I feel like it's not on the same level as her older writing, it's far better than the newer stuff (ie: Pretty Dead and The Frenzy). It's like that show The Carrie Diaries versus Sex and the City. This book was obviously wrote in a voice of a much younger girl. Perhaps I've lost that girl in myself and that's why I couldn't get into it as much as I wanted to. There's something lost when you create this BIG wonderful book and then try to go back to the beginning and create something beautiful in it's shadow. For fans of the series, it adds just as Necklaces of Kisses did. It's so much a part of you that even if it was pure crap, you probably would still read it to the very end. Really. It's not the bad, but its not her best. If you're reading her for the first time and started here, I plead you to go back to where the magic began. I read this book as part of the Epic Reads book group discussion book for this month. It takes a bit of getting used to with the way the author writes and how the book is led out. But honestly, its a good book, you feel like you really get to know Weetzie, you understand her, you hear her telling you her story in her own voice. Not the type of books I'm used to reading, but a great book. I would recommend this book to people, its a good book!
