Peter and the Shadow Thieves by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson is an outstanding book, that is very possibly the most exciting, page turner that I have read in the last few years. I could never in my wildest dreams have imagined that the sequel to such an amazing book, (Peter and the Starcatchers), could or would, be just as good, if not better! Action packed and full of fun, schedule enough time in your day so that you can plop down and read the whole 592 pages in one sitting. Imagine all of your dreams, Neverland, The Mermaids, Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, The Pirates, and all of your greatest hopes coming true! To make things even more interesting now imagine that YOU are a huge pawn in play, right in the middle of a very important, unbelievably complicated game of "cat and mouse". This is exactly how Molly Aster, future mother of the ever so popular "Wendy Darling", feels when her father receives a mysterious letter from one of his old friends saying: "Beware of the shadows." Written in rushed, messy handwriting it is a clear warning. The meaning however is non known. The only one thing that can be gathered from this letter with 100% certainty is that the mysterious substance, " The Starstuff", which gives most magical things, (including Peter Pan, Molly herself, and many others), their power, is in danger. "The Starcatchers" a.k.a the guardians of the Starstuff, also have knowledge that their lifetime long enemies, formally known as "The Others", have made a new alliance, that is even more dangerous than ever before. The Others are certain that this new alliance will help them reach their life long goal: Stealing and using the Starstuff for their own purposes. After helping Peter save Neverland and many others a short year ago no one was expecting Molly and Peter to meet again. But, as normal, everything changes when a mysterious ship lands on the edge of an island known as Neverland. Soon Peter is flying all the way to London in search of Molly's help. But London is a much crueler and darker place than Neverland, and not everyone is willing to welcome a dirty, sometimes haughty, raggedy boy into their home. Will Peter ever find Molly? As these two characters stories intertwine in unforeseen ways you will start to wonder: Who really is: "the enemy"? Filled with unforgettable action, amazing plot twists, and hilarious, yet ironic connections to the modern day, "Peter Pan", Peter and The Shadow Thieves is a definant "must read", that I highly recommend to anyone ranging from the ages of 9-10!
