About book Perfectly Hopeless (2000)

Lovely book cover, but its contents left me with a whole lotta nothing. There were SO MANY spelling and grammatical mistakes, and I wondered whether I'd gotten a bum copy that hadn't been appropriately edited. "Then" instead of "than", the use of the word "anymore" in such a way that sentences didn't make any sense...I was rather disappointed in the romance aspect of this story. I don't know why, but I couldn't really feel the love between Henri and Maven. At the end of the story, we were left with some loose ends. Like Jake. After what he did to Henri, did he just walk away? Spoilers are in this, i warn you before i go there. I'm torn. I liked it but I was left wanting more and had some unanswered questions. First off I admired Maven. She was a young girl that was dumped by her boyfriend, the dick head jake. She meets Henri, whom I loved instantly. I think anyone reading this book will. The life Henri leads is admirable and heartbreaking at the same time. You wanna smile and cry for him at any given minute. These two bond immediately. It's the kind of insta attraction that is actually so sweet and innocent. Flynn was Henri's cousin and really adored and looked out for him. Jake the dick ex was such a mean person. What he did to Henri made me sick. It was at that point when I realized this book was really going to make me sad. Here's where my spoilers come in..........I wanted more maven and Henri, I wanted them to have a life together. This was written so nicely with these two. I wanted Henri to fight to stay, to give himself more time even if he didn't know how much that would actually be. Why didn't jake get caught? Why didn't we see him pay for what he did? Why didn't that other guy come forward? He knew Henri's condition. Flynn..well since Henri was gone, I'd hoped Flynn and maven would be close. The things Henri said in the hospital, he would have wanted them happy, I was shocked I felt that way. I wanted an epilogue that took me more into the future. But most of all, it broke my heard that Henri gave up.
