About book People I Want To Punch In The Throat: Competitive Crafters, Drop-Off Despots, And Other Suburban Scourges (2014)

Having read "Spending the Holidays with People I Want to Punch in the Throat", I eagerly read this book, and was not disappointed. Jen Mann and I seem to have very similar brains, but she is far wittier than I could ever be. This is a look at her life - from meeting her husband to getting into the swing of things with her children's PTA, and various experiences in between. She takes a sarcastic look at the different personalities you might encounter on any given day, and it just makes me laugh to read this book. Some random observations to start:1) Why are so many humorous memoirs lately written by women named Jen? Is it just a correlation because of Jennifer being such a popular name or are Jen's just funnier?2) Why are these said memoirists self-proclaimed slobs? What happened to being clean and well put together? This book caught my eye because the title made me chuckle. I had not heard of Jen Mann but apparently she is a fairly popular blogger and has won awards for blogging about being a mom. I didn't realize the mom part before I dove in but I enjoy reading amusing stories about kids even if I don't have them. Added bonus: She lives about an hour and a half from where I grew up.I was kind of expecting a book full of amusing observations about stereotypical people who drive us crazy, but instead it was more of a chronological compilation of stories from meeting her now husband through both of her kids starting school. Most of the stories focused on her interactions with other moms either one-on-one or through the interactions of their kids.Even though it wasn't what I expected, I was entertained. I wouldn't say I laughed out loud at any part but it kept a smile on my face. Plus, it was short. I would probably grab one of her future books from the library for an evening of enjoyable reading.

Definitely made me laugh. It just didn't end as strongly as it began.
