Very interesting and well written, I got a lot out of this book and was glad I read it.I would have given it 5 starts except for the last few chapters. I think she makes a lot of assumptions about other churches that she has never really explored. And she quoted the whole text from their wedding as if it was a completely new concept of marriage, which I guess it was to her. "This was my conversion in a nutshell: I lost everything but the dog." Butterfield's insights as an outsider to the Christian faith and how open dialogue with and the hospitality of Christians helped draw her to it made me think a lot about how Christians should approach relationships with others. How she processes her journey from living a lesbian lifestyle to eventually marrying a man and homeschooling kids with a framework of grace and redemption also left me with much to ponder. The last portion of the book is a departure from her story of conversion to that of her recent life adopting, fostering and homeschooling, which makes for a less heady read.
I never thought I would experience a story like this. Amazing and miraculous that it's true!
