Ok, first of all, if you are going to write a book about old Russia, be prepared to explain it. I mean come on EVERYONE is a prince or princess? I think I am going to vomit. Second, if you are going to introduce 3+ types of vampires; be prepared to explain in detail the differences. I mean this book had so many holes it was Swiss cheese! Like I said earlier, the premise was not bad, but the delivery and follow through have left you wanting. Not a huge fan of the style of writing or of the holes in the story (some egregious holes). UGH. Being the completist that I am though, I will likely finish the trilogy, not that I actually expect it to get better. Please get better! This book was great. I was up late trying to finish it. What I really liked was the fact that Katerina had two contrasting "gifts", a healing hand and the ability to raise the dead. What I didn't like was the fact that she fell in love with the boy who aggravated her because its something that shows up quite often in regular teenage books and movies. On the other hand, Katerina shows a lot of independence and clearheadedness so she won't hesitate to disobey when she thinks that what is happening is wrong, i.e. the time when she ran to the hospital without permission but that action saved her cousin's life.
