Ok, so here is a lovely story about losing a loved on and letting go. But not in the way of death. Rachael lost her brother to meth. Micah took off on his drug rampage, and when she receives a strange email about him, she goes on the hunt to find him. She wants to bring him home and fix him. She want nothing more then her family back. Thankfully she is smart and takes her brothers best friend Tyler with her. Together the spend a whole day finding people who had met her brother. Knowing how great Micah was, she was seeing his impact even at his weakest point. Sharing Micah with Tyler helps Rachael come to terms withe the fact that Micah will come home on his own time. Then she learns that Tyler has wanted her all a long and has been waiting a long time. I hope to find more of this story,I wish I knew if Micah ever came home on his own. Rachel's brother, Micah, has fallen into an addiction to meth. After a trip to rehab Micah relapses and disappears. When Rachel receives an email telling her that Micah is in trouble she sets out with his friend Tyler to find him.This book, which was a National Book Award Finalist, dealt very well with the guilt and loss felt by an addicts family. Rachel carries the burden of not telling her parents the truth about Micah, the guilt over wishing he and his problems would just go away.I liked the use of flashbacks to portray the Rachel/Micah relationship through their childhood even if it ws a little heavy handed to have younger Micah say "Nah, you would have found a way. if you had the chance, you would have saved me"And probably the resolution of the stolen car was a little too Deus ex Machina...but I am a sucker for a happy ending...and that was as happy as this one was going to get.
