I feel sympathy for him because he's a Marine suffering from PTSD after being held as a POW in the Middle East. He's also a really bad guy who does very bad things for the mob with almost no remorse. However, I couldn't help but like him and connect with him. I could feel his suffering and struggles. I wanted to jump into the book and give Evan a tight hug. I know deep down he only wants someone, anyone to love him unconditionally because that's something he's never had. I could feel his void so deep.I almost always read romances, but this book is not a romance. That being said, there's still love and relationship elements sprinkled throughout the book that made it feel romantic at times. The feelings this book evoked deserves 5 stars. I'm am a ball of freakin emotions after reading this, this amazing piece of work by Shay Savage. Holy crap this was awesome, riveting, twisted in ways, but so real. This story isn't a romance, but I'm guessing, hoping the next book will be!!Evan Arden was a POW in the war and suffers from post traumatic stress disorder, there is romance in his head, from his encounters with Lia the heroine from the novella of the series, and she does make an appearance you just have to wait a looooong time for it, but I had read the reviews and was expecting the book to not be a romance so it didn't bother me. That being said it drew me in from the first words and couldn't put this down. On to the next book !!
