I didn't finish this book. This was a good reads recommendation. I checked out the e-version from the library and I ran out of interest before I ran out of my two weeks. But it just wasn't very good. I felt at some point, the author starting using her book to sell me on psychic powers. Then I read up on the author and found out that she is a psychic. Probably parents should be warned before they give this to their kids. This book was a fun, intriguing tale that was chalk full of adventure, and a good amount of action and suspense! The fun, clever characters kept the plot moving along nicely, and I enjoyed their various attitudes, reactions to the situations that they were placed in, humor, and friendship. The relationship between the orphans and the adults in this tale was interesting to see, and the glimpses of European history added a further interesting layer of depth to the story. The strongest elements of the book were the character and scene development, which were both very well done, and provided a nice, complete setting with good, strong, yet incredibly realistic and easy-to-relate-to characters, with which the story could take place.
