About book Oppressed (2000)

While the teen facade may deter some from reading, this series deals with a lot of current social issues that not only had an impact in the US in its history, but are issues that still challenge the nation. There are teen romances that fuel the story, but there is depth to them that lead to a complexity that involve sacrifice and driving characters to act according to social obligation as opposed to their true self. Good series for any age, but may be more important for the younger generations to get involved with. I was so excited to read Oppressed because I absolutely loved the first three books. I enjoyed reading this book... just not as much as the first three. It was interesting and full of "Oh now that explains it!" moments... It just felt like it was a whole different story of it's own and not really part of the series. Which is disappointing because I was really looking forward to knowing what was going to happen between lucus and arelia. It also seemed to drag the first couple of chapters and I found myself just skimming the pages after a while. But it was a very entertaining read once I got into it towards the middle... just not what I expected.

Can't wait for the next one. Easy read but easy to get lost in story with vivid imagery.
