I am no prude and expect some violence in an action crime story, but James crosses the line for me with this book. I was really looking forward to reading the last of the series, but the premise of the story is too dark for (I hope) most readers - the kind that causes nightmares. There seems to be no limit to the torture of women that this author is willing to describe in selling his books. ENOUGH! James is now off my list and I hope yours as well. And NO, of course I didn't finish the book. 50 pages was enough. I have read so many books by Steven James and was super excited to read this prequel! The story is masterfully told and holds the reader's interest as all of his books do. The reading was a bit hard though as the first half of the story was a bit to grim and gruesome for me. That being said though I really liked reading the background of Patrick Bowers before he starts working with the FBI. Overall, it is a great read, just a big gruesome in parts. Also, while minimal, there were a few places where a word or phrase was used that I didn't like.
Do You like book Openingszetten (2013)?
I understand why Steven James said he had nightmares writing this book. A disturbing thriller!

Filled in a lot of questions about his earlier life.
