About book One Piece, Volume 54: No One Can Stop This Now (2010)
All bets of anything resembling sanity in this series so far are off! We're in the multiple levels of Hell that is the great prison in the Calm Belt known as Impel Down. And no, "Hell" not just figuratively, but completely literally! Half the levels are clearly Dante inspired with some Buddhist [?] concepts thrown in, and the major guards designs carry the demons themes quite heavily. Luffy is racing down the levels to get to Ace before the execution time comes, running into former enemies ('sup Baroque Works) along the way. At last, those lil chapter cover stories of what happened to them are relevant again Volume starts off with Chapter 522:"Hell."The crew has been separated, and Luffy has discovered that his foster brother Portagas D. Ace has been sentenced to execution. Luffy making the decision that to rescue Ace instead of his crew was a big disappointment for me, but as he puts it he knows that they will be able to take care of themselves as to where Ace can't. Luffy is helped by the snake princess Boa Hancock to smuggle him into Impel Down. The highest security underwater prison in the One Piece universe. We also meet some characters who have been absent for quite some time. Go read this nail biting installment for yourself.Cheers and Happy Reading!
