Another great book in this series. I really am very sad that Jennifer Rardin passed away and that is couldn't continue after book #8, but I am very glad I have found this series as it is fantastic! In this one, Jaz, Vale and Cole have to go to Scotland to find out who is after a witch, the head of her coven and have to protect her at all costs. However, this witch is not an easy one to protect, especially when her own plans are very devious and will no doubt cause heaps of problems for Jaz.Jaz's dad and her dog tag along for this one as well and whilst Jaz really doesn't like her dad - he infuriates her no end - a few home truths are revealed and they managed to kiss and make up a bit. Jaz and Vale also move along a bit in their relationship and the sexual tension between the two of them is heating up a great deal. they need to deal with this soon before they both explode! Looking forward to finishing this series, although I will miss Jaz and Vale! For me, this series continues to get better. My favorite thing about Rardin's books is that here characters continue to move forward. They grow and grow up and change and keep trying to move past some of the awful things they have seen and done in their lives.Jaz and crew have now traveled to Scotland, to protect an ally of their former big bad, Edward Samos. This time they are dealing with ghosts, witches, a medusa and connies.. that's right, this story has a Con. It's these things, the silly right next to the serious that keep me reading this series. Rardin rounded out the story nicely with the temporary supporting characters staying at the same Bed and Breakfast and attending the Con along with them. Even more interesting, Jaz's dad, Albert, came along for this mission. In this book Jaz and Albert finally came to some sort of understanding. No spoilers, but some past was revealed to each that allowed them to come to a deeper understanding of each other. There weren't any sappy tears along with their growing mutual respect, but I don't expect any from a harden lifetime Marine and his gun toting CIA assassin daughter. As always, for me, Rardin delivers funny dialogue along with intense fight sequences, while raising the stakes and moving the characters forward. Very Happy:)
