This book was more interesting than I had expected, and I am glad that I decided to read this book. It is packed with detail and drama, maybe even too much. One of the things that I didn't favor were all of the names that were very confusing. There were many characters introduced and their names were common names. For example, there is Jennifer, Nathan, Harvey, John, Judith, the three Jacks, Michael, Amanda, Sarah, Claire, and Will. But, the storyline was full of tension and detail. Overall, I thought the story was compelling and it was immensely descriptive. If there is a sequel to this book, I will read it. I enjoyed this YF book about Jennifer, whose mother had abandoned her past, including family, and raised her in another part of the country. When she accidentally finds a long lost picture of her Aunt, Jennifer goes to visit her to try to learn why her mom left. In some ways, this is a typical "family secrets get revealed" book, but as it is YF, it is not so very dark and yucky. I loved one aspect of the book, the "lines" that they do every night. The aunt and some neighbors gather every night to share lines from their day's readings or ponderings. Most are from literature or poetry, but sometimes it can be random, or even spoken lines they encounter. I'm not a huge poetry lover, but I did enjoy how meaningful some of the lines were to the characters. It kind of reminds me of my life a bit. There are so many nights that Michael gets off work just at bedtime, or as we are getting ready for bed, we will discuss the day. Our "lines" tend to be funny stories, problems, frustrations of the day, random thoughts, or even just silence together. That contemplation at the end of the day is a peaceful thing to me and the idea of lines has piqued my interest. I think my kids are too old to do this, but I think it would have been a fun idea as they were growing up.

Wasn't the best book I've ever read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and the writing was beautiful!
