Sweet story, and points for 1) using a not as common rhyme scheme and 2) scanning it well. My 12yo made me go page by page through it with her so she could show me all the details she noticed in the illustrations. Our favorite is on the "Claire started dreaming" 2-page spread, amongst all the other dreaming dogs, you can see Ollie walking away, with hammer and paper in his hand, having just nailed up the notice. My daughter also constructed an entire Odd Couple set of personalities for the two, pretty much based solely on Claire's messy closet and Ollie's perfect yoga pose. (I appreciated that Claire's was the blue house and Ollie's the pink.) Nice to have a rhyming story with a fresh lilt. Ollie and Claire are best friends. They spend their days in the park yodeling, yoga-ing and swimming. But Claire feels she needs a bit of change in her life, she's bored with her "ho-hum routine." One Friday, she sees a sign on a tree asking advertising for a travel friend for a "round-the-world journey." They are to meet back at the tree on Monday at 4pm. Claire is thrilled and so excited. She dreams of where she'll go and what she'll see on this journey. After rushing home, she packs her bags and is ready to go. But how will she tell Ollie? Ollie gives her a call telling her that he'll be busy for a few days.On Monday, Claire heads to the tree with her mountain of luggage and to meet her new travel companion. And what a surprise her travel companion turns out to be.A really fun cute book with artwork that reminded me of Sara Varon's work.
