About book Of Grace And Chocolate (2012)

I just finished a lovely book. OF GRACE AND CHOCOLATE written by Krista Lynne Jensen was a surprise and a slightly sandy delight, like eating chocolate cake at the beach. I was expecting something light and bubbly but got something with some romance, action and a smidgen of danger tossed in.Jillian Parrish, works for a publishing company. She, like many publishing employees, hopes to get her own book published. As she's rushing to get the manuscript turned in by the deadline, an old and nearly forgotten boyfriend trips her up. He's seen her around, wants to date her, and is picking some lame tactics to get that date. The sad thing is, he doesn't remember that they've already met and he's already blown it.Jill barely gets her book in, and goes home to hopefully a hot bath. But when she gets there, another problem looms. Everlisse, her runaway little sister, has come home, bringing baby Shiloh with her. Clearly Evie has broken off something way too big for her to chew. The baby has nothing and neither does Evie. Jill goes out to get things for the baby and when she comes back, Ev is gone, leaving Jill with a baby she has no idea how to care for.Not only that, but the house is wrecked and it becomes evident that some fairly horrible people are after her sister. Jill reaches out to friends, who hide her and Shiloh until they can find Everlisse and figure out how to help. They hole up in a beach house, which turns out to be next door to Scott's family's house as well. Scott edges back into Jillian's life, becoming more and more someone Jill can't do without on her quest to find her sister and combat the people bent on hurting Ev. Or worse. But finding Everlisse doesn't solve everything. This was a hurricane in a book with little to do with chocolate and lots to do with a sister's love. This is real life, well written and poignant. A lovely, sandy read. I was very pleasantly surprised by this book! It's not one I would have chosen because the title is so cheesy and gimmicky (like it's saying, hey, it's not a great book, but maybe women will read it because they like chocolate...!) But it is very well written and has a lot more to it than just a romance and chocolate. The characters in it learned and grew, and I thought the tough topics were handled maturely, not in a cheesy or cliche way. They were all likeable characters and there were some cute funny parts, which is always a plus. This author definitely has a way with words, so I'll have to look for more by her!

Good read. I liked the story--more than just a romance. And it deals with some difficult topics.
