My church book club read this; I found it especially poignant, especially the very last paragraph in the acknowledgements when Zaslow talks about walking his daughters down the aisle, knowing that he never got to do it. I did not expect all the insights into family life and how things have changed. I wondered how many brides he followed but did not include in the book; the stories that he chose are all pretty interesting. It seemed almost odd at the end when he actually detailed some wedding ceremonies after reading so much about the build up.To me, a good measure of a book is if I want to know more when I am finished; if getting to the end leads to even more questions that I want answered, the book has meant something to me. I had many questions and wanted to know more about Zaslow and the interesting life that he led, but also the fate of many of the brides and their families. Maybe I will visit Fowler sometime. I know that I will not look at a mirror in quite the same way again, and will probably think of the many others who have been reflected in it in the past-- and future. Interesting NF book about Becker's Bridal shop in Fowler, MI. Zaslow writes of love, family, hopes, dreams, as he follows several women through their experiences at Beckers. Especially bittersweet knowing that Zaslow, the father of 3 daughters, will not see them marry. He died in a car accident in Feb. 2012 while touring for the book.Reread in June 2013 for Dublin book group. This time skipped around in book to read each person's story in its entirety.
