About book O Livro Dos Dons (2011)

Run away, get caught, listen to exposition, run away, get caught, listen to more exposition... The basic premise of the world and the story is clever enough, it just takes too long for anything to actually happen. The characters are interesting to start, but then they never change or develop as the story goes on, instead they just remain fairly flat and it becomes difficult to care one way or the other if they run away, get caught, or tell us more back story. On a positive note, I do think that there is enough here that I won't give up on the author altogether. As a first book, there is definitely much room for improvement, and I am willing to read at least one more by this author to see if she does. Enjoyable and well written. I loved the way she developed the story through the characters pondering while traveling. It was nice to jump into the story and move, while still getting a full picture of the world and history. It had the right amount of description and action in my opinion. She did a great job developing characters and I love how the story wraps. Unlike some other writers, I want to read the next because I enjoyed this one, not because it ends in a ridiculous cliffhanger.

Do You like book O Livro Dos Dons (2011)?

3.5 A solid book with no literary risks taken. Comfortably settled in an overcrowded genre.
