I admit that I was a little bored and may not have made it had my friend not told me a little of the story. It's revealed at the end of this book, and I'm sure it's going to develop further in the rest of the stories. The first book is sort of a world building book that introduces you to the characters and welcomes you to the world. The way this world really works (the truth that not even the main characters figure out until something happens at the end) is insanely creative and an amazing idea that makes me so excited to read more. So even though I didn't enjoy this book up until the end, I am extremely excited to read on and find out where this series takes me. Got to read the last issue of Vol. 1 first and on the first page, there was Salman Rushdie and Samuel Clemens aka Mark Twain having a fucking conversation. Plus the fact that this whole story-within-a-story graphic novel features a not so subtle Harry Potter vibe. Plus, language style used. I mean, how can I NOT give this 5 stars? This is why graphic novels are starting to change my opinion about a lot of things. Volume No. 2, please.
I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Maybe I'll try the second and see how that goes.
