The 10th gift of beauty that comes from God is BOOKS! Julia visits Morocco to learn about the place Catherine was taken to by pirates in 1625, from all she had known in Cornwall, England. A great story with lots of detail & some interesting history- of the 2 countries, it's people & embroidery. I liked it a lot. The song sung by a the grandmother says, "God divided Beauty & gave it to the Ten. Henna, soap & silk-those are the 1st 3. The plow, livestock, & the hives of bees-that makes 6. The sun when it rises over the mountains-that makes 7. The crescent moon, as thin as a Christian's blade, that makes 8. With horses & with books- we come to 10." Too many coincidences!! And the title doesn't seem to have anything to do with the book -- or did I miss something vital? And another of my pet peeves -- a serious anachronism. When Cat is enlisted to sew up the captain's wounds, she gets a needle and then boils the thread, presumable to sterilize it, but this is 1625! No one understood germs until Louis Pasteur came along and figured out the causes of infection. No way would someone in 1625 have known about sterilization. Where is the editor??
Do You like book O Décimo Dom (2010)?
Liked the story, especially the historical one, the main modern-day character - not so much.

Good interesting story. Wish the ending had a twist or two. It was to polished.
