4.5Prequel novella for the Emi Lost and Found series. We open up with Emi in turmoil. She caught her dad cheating on her mom when she was at a restaurant eating with her friends. She is now living with her brother and mom in a small apartment. She is being forced to start over at a new school. Emi is a mess. But she meets Nate in her art class and they strike up an unlikely friendship. Emi and Nate's friendship is a beautiful thing. They compliment each other perfectly. Lori Otto created amazing characters and showcased some pretty good writing skills. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it took me a little bit to get into it. But once I did it was really hard to put down. I think I even teared up at one point. And I was really impressed with the use of Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales throughout the story. The Canterbury Tales is one of my favorite books from high school. I have a feeling that there may be some foreshadowing going on with the use of this story. There was a very specific line that mad me think Nate might be the Knight in the story. On to book one.... Emi is heartbroken. She's always believed in love, but what happens when she discovers her father is cheating on her mother. Emi must move schools. At her new school, she meets Nate. They develop a friendship that can stand the test of time. I got this book for free on my nook, and boy am I grateful for that! It was so good, even though it was a novella, I found myself not being able to stop reading and staying up late to finish it! I can't wait to continue on with the series! I absolutely loved the relationship between the characters, especially between minor characters as well. Would recommend to everyone, especially YA.
