About book No Sex In The City (2012)

This was a bit slow to start with but by the middle, I was hooked!! I've never read a chick-lit book where the main character was a muslim looking for her soulmate!! The whole no sex, or even kissing or touching before marriage is hard for me to take - I was quite the run-around when I was young and single so I couldn't relate to Esma's plight at all but still, it was interesting. Anyway, there's a lot of layers to this book. It's well written (though I found a few things confusing and even one instance where the wrong name was mentioned!!) but a good story always trumps everything else. light read about friendship of young women (in Sydney) searching for Mr Right. Edna is Turkish Muslim and will not even kiss or hold hands with a suitor, even a suitable one . her friends have other mores but all eschew sex before marriage and want to choose well -on remarkably short acquaintance though. work and family issues impinge as in the normal world but these are good girls so do volunteering and go to coffee bars or drink cola on evenings out. Good for them, having sensible fun!

Entertaining read, enjoyed getting a Sydney Muslim perspective in chick lit context.
