About book No Me Iré Sin Decirte Adónde Voy (2011)
I hesitated a lot to give this book 3 or 4 stars. Finally, even if I think my critics about this book are not about the author intention but more about his, let's say, "clumsiness"... I gave 3 stars because I am still shocked.First, what I appreciated in this book: the story was very surprising. You never get bored because it is written in a way that there is always something happening. The main character is interesting because you can easily identify with him (well, I could, because he's shy, doesn't want to disturb anyone, is young and a little bit disappointed by the business world he just entered in...). Moreover, there is a lot of clever explanations about the way psychology works. This book reminds you certain truths about your own social life, and is a kind of good guide to have the courage to be yourself. I really appreciated that, even if I generally don't like the "preachy" type of books.Now, let's talk about what really disappointed me. I was really loving the story, until around 70% of the book. And then, suddenly, comes this "theory" about women. The character who gives you all these clever lessons suddenly explains that women DOESN'T NEED to have ambition, and therefore to obtain high levels in the business world, because they already are "satisfied" with their power of giving birth. Wait. WHAT?????????Yes, the author peacefully says that it is why there are no women in the CEOs. In the enterprise where the main character works, only one woman appears in the board of directors but, the author explains, "she had a gray and masculine hair, probably to make her way in this world". Okay so, I was dreaming of being able to live such a great adventure in my own life but - oh no, wait, I should be satisfied with my capacity to give birth. Then I thought about the characters in the book and I realized there is no consistent female character (something that I did not notice before this striking "theory" about women). The main one just obey to give up the main character that she loves, for weird reasons. Another one is obeying the main character to help him get the great job (and will have absolutely no reward for it, even not a "thank you"), and the last one is the assistant of the "clever old man", and is always admiring the two main male characters for their cleverness. Okay, it was a good story. I'm just so sad to read a book published in 2010 with this kind of thoughts about women. Really, really, really disappointed. I'm a woman, and I have a future too. I mean, a professional future, not only a relationship to a man who I will admire unconditionally. I really hope the author will improve this part of his writing in his next books. Son zamanlarda okuduğum en güzel kitaptı Fikirleri , heyecan dolu hikayesi ve sade anlatımı ile bende çok güzel bir etki bıraktı. Bazı kısımlarda öyle komik anlar yaşandı ki , bir komedi filmi sahnesinden aşağı kalır yanı yoktu. Hele o adamın toplantıya elinde dergi ile gelip masanın üzerine fırlatması yok mu gülmekten yarıldım :D :D Okurken elimden bırakamadım.
