About book Nice Girl To Love: The Complete Collection (2013)
I realized after I started reading this book that I had read book #4, Finding the Right Girl, back in December of 2013. Even though I read things out of of order it had been enough time apart that I still was able to be surprised by this collection. Nice Girl to Love is the set of the first three books in the series which REALLY need to be read in order (or as this set has them laid out) otherwise you will be spoiled. Reading this as the complete set rather than as individual books made sense to me, each book is directly connected to the next one, so I am not sure why it wasn't written this way to begin with (in my opinion it would have be less spoilerish done this way originally). Nice Girl to Love was a well-written story but it was a very frustrating story to read (for me). I was not a fan of what happened in book 2 (Falling for the Good Guy) or book 3 (Choosing the Right Man). Honestly, I was so mad after reading parts of book 2, I am surprised I kept reading. I really didn't like the plot to this. So why did I keep reading this set you ask? Well, Violet Duke is a compelling writer. Her writing is interesting and her dialogue was entertaining, I just disagreed with her way of getting the two people I wanted together, together. Violet Duke is a writer I will read again, like I said, I enjoy her writing style. I will just watch out for the plot next time and read a bit more reviews before I tackle her next story. My recommendation is read book 1 (Resisting the Bad Boy) it was clever, full of yummy tension and it was a great read. Skip book 2 and up until the last bit of book 3 (Choosing the Right Guy) to get the story that I really wanted told. Again, that is my opinion and the wonderful thing about books is that they are wonderful in different ways for every reader. If you are a fan of love triangles with interesting twists, then you will enjoy this set and then really like book 4 (Finding the Right Girl) as a finisher. Nice Girl to Love was a sweet story that will definitely resonate with some readers, I unfortunately, wasn't one of them. I just finished Choosing. WOW! What an upside down inside out emotional roller-coaster! I laughed, cried, hoped and wondered. I found that I could not put it down once I started. I found myself cheering for one of the brothers even though I knew it was a no win situation for one of them. I loved how Connor changed well changed is a strong word. He developed after meeting Abby. He realized that his "rules" didn't apply with her and he wanted more. He never thought that he wanted more until....I also loved Brian and I could feel the love between Brian and Abby but there is a big difference between loving someone and being in love with someone. I have no doubt that Brian loved Abby but he only thought he was in love with her. Guess you can figure out which brother I was rooting for! Now I am looking forward to seeing how it all blends together in the final book.
