Without a doubt this is the most unbiased account I've read. The author humanizes Adam Lanza while never relieving him of his choices. Each child and adult in the school is shown as an individual which only makes the tragedy more heartbreaking. The introduction and afterword are thought provoking and a portion of all sales go to one of the children's foundation that's researching mental illness. This is a must read. Everyone has been affected by the horrible events of December 14, 2014. Even thinking about it, makes me and I know everyone else sad. As a teacher, I know how important it is to keep students safe and be prepared for anything.I don't recommend this book to everyone because it is tough to read. I cried several times.. The first chapter goes over the last goodbyes some of the parents had with their children. The actual events that did occur in the school and the funerals. It is very upsetting and tough to read.However, it is important to remember what happened and maybe try to understand why. I received a lot of information from this book and it was all handled well. Proceeds go to some or at least one the parents programs. For me, I respected this book. I respect those families, students, and teachers. I couldn't be there for them when it happened but I would like to be there for them now. So, if you're interested in knowing more about this event, I do recommend it. But you will cry and it is a tough read in the sense that you get a lot of disturbing details. If you feel it is too soon or are not ready, then just put it off.
