The series poses the question: what if there were witches and witch hunters in modern day New England?This story has a strong YA voice. Alex deals with every day teen problems and then more supernatural ones on top! The paranormal elements are not the focus of the story. You'll see very little of it. It's more about Alex, her family, their history, and her relationship with Peter. It's well written and perfect for those who like a solid YA read. My niece who is an avid reader reccommended this series of books...there are 4 in the series. She told me that it was one of those inexpensive kindle books ,she decided to read, and really enjoyed it. She had reccommended them to many of her friends, and they all felt the same way. So based on that I too, decided to read them. I have to agree, I find them very interesting. I am not sure why I found them so exciting, but I did. I read all 4 in about a month, and am not necessarily a fast reader, just average. The books are written for youth, but I tend to enjoy youth books..maybe I never grew up. The story takes place in a town in Massachusetts not far from Salem. The main character finds out she is a witch about a year before she turns 18. She had noticed weird things happening when she got upset..like thunder and lightening, or something breaking all by itself. The books are all based on her becoming of age to get her full "powers". The books include a fraternity of witch hunters, some history of the witch trials in Salem, and much more including a lot of action. I would reccommended this to anyone who like paranormal genre and the teen books.
