About book Nerdist Way, The: How To Reach The Next Level (In Real Life) (2011)
3.5 starsSometimes Chris Hardwick is adorable, sometimes he's irritating. Sometimes I laughed or nodded my head in agreement, and sometimes I rolled my eyes. Sometimes I had a little crush, and sometimes I wanted to punch him in the stomach a little bit. I think he's just too much. Too much of a good thing is still too much. The book was entertaining, but the self-help stuff was nothing original. No lightbulbs went on and the heavens did not open with a heavenly chorus to shed light on how to "level up" in life. It was more about using common sense and not letting negativity rule you. I'm going to be honest here, I had no idea that this was a self help book. I just finished a book and I was eagerly awaiting for the release of another book that was going to be released in 2 days. What to read in the meantime? I wanted something short and sweet and happened to stumble across this. It went like this:"Hey! I like Chris Hardwick, he's funny, let's try this!"I picked up on the fact that it was a self help book about 30 minutes in and I started to wonder if I should keep going. The words "self help" are usually a turnoff for me, but a nerd I like wrote it so what the hell. So glad I did! It was so much more interesting than I would have thought. I feel like I got a lot out of it, and hopefully I can implement some of these ideas into my life. Also, I'd listen to the audio version if I were you. Hardwick himself reads it, so the entertainment value goes WAY up.

I think this is written for those who have not thought to make themselves a character to succeed.

The first third of the book was the strongest; I thought the last two thirds lacked originality.

Life goals and self-improvement in a way I get! Excellent audiobook as well.

This was very sexual but surprisingly funny.
