About book Napoleon's Privates: 2,500 Years Of History Unzipped (2008)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.It was amusing, light-hearted, and extraordinarily down-to-earth enlightening. The chapters were fun to share with friends, and they all got a kick out of some of the facts.It was nice to find out some of the misconceptions (just as Napoleon syndrome, he wasn't really that short for the time) and learn where they came from and what the truth really was.It was also interesting to read about some of the more notorious women, who would have thought old nuns to be such little minxes?I would definitely recommend this book as a light read for anyone who wants to take their mind off of work or daily stress. It was just that sort of book. Provides has many fun and often disturbing trivia about various characters and events in history. It isn’t bad but for some reason it didn’t keep me reading. It took me a year to finish this small book. At about page 145 I think even the author was weary of the on topic anecdotes of sexual odd fellows and escapades. Here the book begins to cover the history of the restaurant, who’s who among the Robber Barons and all manner of other trivia. This book is actually better for the diversions. The book skips around and makes for nice light reading. Not bad, not great, amusing.
