About book Napoleon Hill's Outwitting The Devil: The Secret To Freedom And Success (2011)
This is an intriguing book. There are few books that I agree with whole-heartedly, and this is no different, but the thoughts and principles outlined here will undoubtedly make a profound difference for me and my life.Often people will compare this to the Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, simply due to the nature of it being an insight into devilric (pretty sure that's not a word, but I like it anyway) stratagems. I see them as two significantly different works with different messages. They have commonalities to be sure, but they are significantly different reads, both worthy of one's time and attention. I found Outwitting the Devil to be a lot more approachable than Think and Grow Rich or The Law of Success. I found the conversation just as relevant today as when it was supposedly written, and the examples weren't as integral to the story and so didn't make it feel as dated. I did not really care for the notes added by Sharon Lechter, as mostly they just repeated something Napolean Hill had said and asked if you can find relevance in your life. I'm quite capable of reading something and seeing how it fits with my life and didn't need any help; the only notes I really did find helpful were where she added new context, but that was a minority.I pretty much agree wholeheartedly with his complaints about public education and it's interesting that the problems were being pointed out so long ago and that we still have the broken system in place today.
