I thoroughly enjoyed this book. From a writing perspective there were some points that could have been smoother, but I was easily able to overlook these as I read late into the night. I do give Carla Kelly props for writing a truly entertaining love story that was clean and engaging. Beyond the love story, I will forever remember this book because it brought to life a community, a time, a tragedy that is part of my family history and before which I never grasped in the smallest degree. My great grandma's beloved husband was killed in the Scofield Mine Disaster. I knew this, but the true horror of what she experienced never registered until reading this book and I admit that I cried profusely. This is a nice clean good old fashion romance novel! Right up my alley, so uplifting and entertaining. I especially love the facts of history woven into the lives of these fictional characters, whom I fell in love with. I enjoyed the references to singing in choirs, I wanted to hear the welsh tenors sing me to sleep! Della anders the main character is a great example of how we can all become who we want to be despite our past, she's not perfect, none of the characters are and that makes it very relate able. I think I might find some more Carla Kelly books to read!
