I won book #3 in this series through a goodreads giveaway, but, having not read the first two books, I decided to start at the beginning and read the whole series. I'm glad that I did! While fantasy isn't my thing, I do enjoy medieval romance and paranormal romance, so this seemed like a good fit. And, I quite enjoyed it! There was minimal world building and the magic constraints were fairly simple to understand. It didn't take up a lot of the story telling. I love the hero's honor, sense of duty, and the way the 5 warriors of the mist work together. I loved the way they interacted. The heroine is strong, practical, and likable enough. And, the idea of animal avatars is new to me, so that was a fun. While the romance tended to be cheezy and PG-13 rated, the story is sweet and I was very interested to see where the overall story arch goes. There's not much to say here. The writing was sub-par but intriguing, the danger held little sense of doom, and the urgency was never really there despite the fact the warriors only have three months to walk the earth. The characters were interesting but the romance came of as the "just add water" kind which diluted the sweetness and made it bland. It had potential but unfortunately the execution was poor.

Fabulous and fun fantasy romance. Loved the world building and am eager to read the next one.
