Zoe Armstrong lets impulsiveness get the best of her, gets caught in a compromising position with her best friend, and finds herself shipped off to the country with both of their extended families in tow as they are forced to prepare for a marriage absolutely no one wants to happen. At this point, I would have expected hijinks to ensue but this a more serious book so despair and angst ensue instead. I thought the story was a bit longer than it needed to be, but otherwise an interesting and satisfying read and I really loved how everything played out in the end. Also, kudos to the smirking lady on the cover. Love her expression. Zoe is caught in a compromsing position with Robert, the Marquess of Mercer's brother. Forced into a betrothal, Zoe realizes that she has gone too far and has to suffer the consequenes. Mercer is not happy with everything that has happened because of his feelings for Zoe. Jealousy comes into play knowing that his brother is going to marry the woman that he loves. An attraction grows between Zoe and Mercer, one that was there for awhile. While Robert is in love with another he has no problem calling off the betrothal and allowing Zoe and Mercer to be together.
