Kamala is a typical teenage Muslim girl. She respects her parents' wishes and has a deep sense of religion but yet longs to be a "normal" teenager who gets to celebrate the "normal" holidays, go to parties and date. Out of desperation, Kamala sneaks out and soon realizes that she is special but will have to choose between respecting her parents' wishes and doing what she believes is right. Love this one! Such an important read for all teenagers. A refreshing take on Marvel characters. A fantastic, funny start for a brand-new hero. Even if you're not a young Muslim girl from New Jersey, you can most likely relate to 16-year-old Kamala Khan. Her fanatical love for fanfiction, cosplay, plushies, Slurpees, RPG's, video games, and the Avengers. Her strict, religious, but loving parents who just mean well. Her stylish best friend and intelligent, adorable second-best friend who sorta has a crush on her. Funny and endearing, with stellar artwork and good pacing. Diversity done right.
