I like reading most anything written about WWII Europe and this book, overall, did not disappoint. I was transported to that time and place but not in such a graphically detailed way when touching on the horrors of the time. I felt, as have others, that the ending was a bit rushed but I do feel the beginning set up the ending quite well. It was an interesting read that I would recommend to others. There was some good writing in this, and it was a heartbreaking story that depressed me entirely...and - there were definitely problems. With help, this could be a stunning story, I just didn't quite understand all of it - though, I did give it my undivided attention. There were too many holes and I don't like that. I like to know all the facts, the intent of the characters...I didn't get that here. My reading was stilted many times by having to figure out the meaning of a sentence b/c of missing words or jumping around that caused me to lose place of certain characters. But, again...there is some very impressive writing within this book - along with a great start to an intriguing story. With some fleshing out I believe it could be fantastic! I did enjoy my time with it and do not regret having read it. Because I enjoyed it so much, I would only like to see the flaws remedied so that it gets the attention it deserves. 3***
Do You like book Mrs. Tuesday's Departure (2013)?
Could've been so much more. Was an alright plot, but just could've been much more of a story.
