Every Cal Leandros book has sucked me in but to spit me out at the end, a little more spent each time. This one was no different. Grabbing on right from the beginning I have found the recent style of writing Thurman has taken up, of specifying each chapter to a particular person's point of view, only adds to the overall effect of the book. To feel so much not only for our obvious main characters but for characters that have been brought up only once before shows the mastery that Thurman has in writing these books. In every book Cal's heritage has brought up the idea of family and when (if ever) family should abandon each other. This is the first book that I believe has truly shown to each character what the limits of this family they have are, and it left me with a heart both broken and repaired because it was so resoundingly believable. Just finished this and love it immensely. I have my favorite parts dog-eared for re-reading pleasure. I also really enjoyed the second point-of-view of Catcher, and oh break my heart, how it ended for him... Sigh. But it totally makes sense.I did think about how the end of getting rid of the monster of this book was going to come about and I was right, but, hey, when something makes sense to do, do it. And I like being right so am completely satisfied. I also like the ramifications of where this is all leading to for poor Cal. I'm into the first chapter of Blackout now and wondering if what's going on in that is part of what was transforming in this book's end. Guess I'll see. I'm devouring these books. The only sad part is I only have two left, dang it. Hope you are writing Robyn...
