I know other reviewers really enjoyed reading this book. And I would agree that Katie Hafner bravely puts it ALL out there; she is honest and real, and given the things she has been through with her mother (and with other people in her life), this could not have been easy.Still, I found myself getting lost in all the painstaking detail. It seemed like every one of her childhood memories was put on display and analyzed ad nauseum. It was brutal at points--and not in an emotionally powerful way, but in a boring way. I commend Hafner for being willing to write about such personal experiences, but I think I would have appreciated a slightly abbreviated version. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was drawn to a tea/book signing with the author after reading the invite with the book's title...Mother Daughter Me. I had a contentious relationship with my own mom after my parent's divorce, and after many years, moved in to be her caregiver. The garden tea event was awesome and I tore through the book with fervor. Katie did a fabulous job of navigating the relationship between her mother and her daughter and articulating the journey. I enjoyed her style of writing and her keen insight to how her past affected the living experiment.
