This is a cute little ghost story written in epistolary format about an old, washed-up author trying to get inspiration for his latest book in an old haunted Victorian mansion. I particularly enjoyed the little illustrations and the puns in the characters' names. I'd recommend it for second-fourth grade readers who like quirky stories. Also here's a nice quote from the ghost-writer (literally):"All I'm saying is that your life is a story, and that you are the main character of that story. Is your story a comedy or a tragedy? Is it dull? Or is it a compelling, spine-tingling drama? My point, Iggy, is simply that each of us is the author of his or her own life. So if you're telling me that you've changed, I'm pleased at your authorship." This is a very quirky book that will appeal to EVERYONE!! I really enjoyed this book. It's about a grumpy old writer, who has the worst case of writers block ever. He moves into a Victorian house to start working on his new book(he hasn't written anything in 20 years). Little does he know, the house already has people living in it, Seymour Hope, an 11 year old boy, and Olive C Spense, a 190 year old ghost(and their cat Shadow). And they have no intention of sharing!
