Morris Micklewhite loves to do loads of creative things at school but what he loves the most is to wear the tangerine dress that reminds him of tigers and his mother's hair. But the boys and girls in his class make fun of him day after day and after a week of teasing Morris stays home with a stomach ache - but he gradually discovers that he likes being different and he likes wearing the tangerine dress and some up with a marvellous - and creative - solution! Loved the story and the illustrations by Isabelle Malenfant! Morris is a boy who likes to do all sorts of things at school--paint, pretend, and dress up in a tangerine dress. He is bullied for his love of this dress and becomes sad until he decides he does not care what the other kids think.I really like the charcoal and watercolor illustrations in this book. The little tiger is ADORABLE. Seriously. My favorite part of the book.The story itself is problematic. Most of the book I could get behind because it felt like a GOOD story. Good rhythm, good writing. But then, the ending. The ending glosses over any type of solution to Morris' bullying. What made the boys decide to be his friend again? The fact that he went to play by himself? I need something more if this picturebook about a tough topic is actually going to be about the tough topic, or just another imaginative story. It is trying to be both and unfortunately, fails to do either theme justice.
