The book is about a girl called Chloe who one day meets old dirty tramp who people calls him Mr Stink. Chloe is having a hard time in life because she is bullied at school, her mom is literally forcing her family to be posh, her sister is a snob and her dad is afraid to stood up to mom. When Chloe's mom Mrs Crumb runs for prime minister candidate she makes lots of new rules and one of them is driving tramps off the street. So Chloe brings Mr Stink to the shed secretly. But her mom finds it anyway and figures out that she could use him as an advantage. But then things don't go as planned. Also Chloe finds out a secret about Mr Stink's past life. Like many other David Walliams book, this book is funny yet also very heartwarming. This book shows to solve family conflict they need to tell others how they truly feel. David Walliams 'Mr Stink' is an emotional, crazy, funny and wonderful read.It is about Chloe a 12 year old girl whose Mum does not approve of anything she does. She believes her daughter is the 'black sheep' of the family. Chloe has a younger sister Annabelle; 'the jewel' of the family, the angel because she takes to mum. She is smart at everything in mums world.Annabelle taunts Chloe most of the time to get her in trouble.Mrs Crumb is one of those over the top deluded pushy mums who wants to realize their failed dreams in their children. Dad Mr Crumb is no help either because he is scared of Mrs Crumb and would not cross her at any time.Chloe has no confidence or self esteem and thus a victim of bullying by the 'cool girls' Rosamund and her gang. Chloe was not interested in academics, she found solance in dreaming, fantasizing and writing which appealed to her more than maths. She finds friendship with a tramp, 'Mr Stink". He is the only person she seems to relate with some one to have a conversation with and not rubbishy it. Chloe and Mr Stink have awayward time together and when she learns about the Woe that Mr Stink has experienced, they became in-separable mates.There is more to the Tramp, 'Mr Stink'. He is godsend. He helps open Mrs Crumb's eyes and helps brings a divided , unhappy family together again!It is afunny interesting read. There is a lot of reality in the story which helps with the children's imagination they can picture incidents hence easy to follow and understand the story. It is a brilliant key stage 2 read very funny and would be great to have in the classroom on the shelf because many children can relate to the issues the text addresses namely; bullying,family,homelessness and politics.I loved the begining of the text, it is very topical. It emphasizes what the text is about,'Mr Stink' . The illustrations , grahics and are very funny ,vivid and tell the story clearly. The book has chapters which is great because you get to know (clue) before hand what you are reading about. David Walliam's choice of words is funny , the use of non-existent words , emphasis of words and expressions like the 'Burp' create a situation that is extreme and thus hilarious.It can be used as reaad aloud text by both the teacher , students and for discussion purposes predicting what happens next. It can also be used for curiculum support; ( Literacy) practising adjectives, (Art) drawing sketches of characters, (PSHE) emotions / feelings of characters and so on.

On Goodreads there's a December 2013 challenge to read a children's book. I intend to read one from my childhood and also one I've never read before. I love Roald Dahl and as David Walliams style of writing is considered very similar, I thought I'd read this book. I adored it and as a child I can imagine that I would have devoured each and every one of his books in quick succession. This book is about a lonely little girl called Chloe who befriends the local tramp, known as Mr Stink. She ends up moving him into her garden shed. The Quentin Blake illustrations are brilliant but then he's one of my favourite illustrators. This book is a heart warming tale with a heavy dose of humour. I adored Mrs Crumbs Manifesto when campaigning for MP and Annabelle's timetable of extra curricular activities. I think the perfect age for this book is around 8 years old. My son is 6, and I'm looking forward to introducing him to David Walliams's books in the coming years.

What makes the book special is that there is some quite serious morality involved in the way the author puts across issues of prejudice, misconceptions and stereotypes in a way that children can understand, and hopefully learn from. This book tells the story of a young girl who befriends a dirty smelly tramp, and the resulting effects on her and her family. There is plenty of humour to appeal to children, and a deeper message about not judging people by first impressions. The pictures illustrate it perfectly, you really do fell that Mr Stink and the other characters are real. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I actually read it twice even as an adult and found it very funny! The idea of the story is brilliant and David Williams cleverly leaves little hints throughout the story which all come together at the end in a surprise twist. The humour is witty and clever throughout. This is a must read for all ages.
