About book Monica (Songs Of Submission 7.5) (2000)
The Songs of Submission Series.Basic Plot:Girl with a self-proclaimed musical talent trying to make it big on the West Coast working at a bar. Man with money, ex-wife he believes he still loves and secrets. They meet...yada, yada, yada and then.I began the series thinking 'What else is new?' It started as most do, but what Reiss does is suck the reader into the characters. Monica, after trial and error begins to realize that she is more that just the next gig and encore. Johnathan finally admits to himself that he has depth under his pain. Reiss, quite intelligently, buries this character evolutions in actions and not 'eureka' moments as most writers would. I did enjoy the introduction of Johnathan's view a third of the way through the series, not as repetition of Monica's view of events but as story progression. This added significant understanding to both characters. As the story developed and the characters evolved I was surprised to discover that I actually cared and I was hooked. Not 5 stars but 10 STARS!!! I love this series so much. I have never felt more stress, confusion, excitement, anticipation and satisfaction since reading anything else. Amazing, clever, heartbreaking, sexy, romantic, there are just not enough adjectives to describe the story or what I felt about Monica and her King and MY King Jonathan. CD Reiss is a genius and I can't wait to read more of her amazing stories!!!!!
