Sleep Like a Tiger is a story written by Mary Logue that any parent can relate too. It describes a young princess who has difficulty falling asleep. Her parents try to entice her with all the different animals that sleep soundly with the hopes it will encourage their daughter to fall asleep too. This fairytale story is an awesome story to read to your restless child and can hopefully convince them to fall asleep like one of their favorite animals. This book uses the illustrations of Pamela Zagarenski and is a winner of the Caldecott medal. It brings together amazing illustrations that perfectly fit the narrative of Logue and these beautiful illustrations do n amazing job of creating a perfect image for the reader. This book is well worth the read and is an amazing example of a book that lets the illustration enhance the story to become a classic. This book not only has a great story line, but has amazing illustrations. The book follows a little girl who isn't tired and isn't ready to go to sleep. She asks her parents whether or not they sleep and asks them questions about animals, while she keeps reassuring them that she isn't tired. Her parents tell her she can stay up all night, but only on one condition. Every time she asks a question, her parents respond by giving her a task to do, like brushing her teeth, washing her face, and climbing into bed. Doing these tasks when you are getting ready for bed causes her to get sleepy without realizing it. In a classroom, this book could be used to teach all different types of figurative language. The illustrations could even be used in an art class when learning about shapes.
