About book Mirror Sight (2014)

Guess this one has polarized the fan base. Earlier books were criticized as being too similar to other great epic fantasy titles. Now the readers morn because this one did something a bit different, perhaps moving into the cousin genre Science Fiction too much.I think this book was just as good as the previous books, and it continues to build on an interesting story. The main character has already gone into the past (and future), and different times were a part of the previous book as well. I don't see why it would be surprising to go into the future. It was nice to explore a different place and time, and yet use the same characters and world. As the Eletians say, we can't know at this point if the future has been changed or "destroyed" there are many possibilities (and it is up to other books to sort those out). The point is we have been given a taste of those possibilities and must see if such a harrowing future can be escaped. In the meantime, it read like the other books with good doses of humor and surprise. Really I thought this book had many interesting facets to it. Maybe some wanted to see more sword fighting from Karigan, but I thought it was a well done and interesting book. Each one in the series has its own different take on things, as the Green Rider mysteries slowly come to light. I don't know what it means for the next book or two, but this book was just as good as the others. This one had a bit more romance, which could be good or bad depending on your preference, but in general it was Karigan again making the best of the situation she was given and becoming the unlikely heroine once more. We now know she is part of something greater which even the gods are a part of (as hinted in the previous installment). I cannot believe this book was a one-off change in direction by the author. There is a carefully devised plot in line. Guess this one has polarized the fan base. Earlier books were criticized as being too similar to other great epic fantasy titles. Do You like book Mirror Sight (2014)?

I wanted to hate this book because Kristen took my favorite character out of the world that was so familiar and dear to me. I did miss the other characters, and the setting very much and it angered me that cliff hangers were left and not resolved. However, this was a good - stand alone - book. Karigan is still likable, albeit she does behave somewhat outside of what you would expect of her character, BUT, she is in a whole new unfamiliar world surrounded by strangers. This new world is interesting, as well as the characters. It is frustrating, however, to have read a whole book and when it concludes know that none of that mattered. Thankfully I had read other reviews and knew to expect this, otherwise I would have been in tears. Also, the Karigan at the conclusion of this book... with the little bit of crazy... was not how I would have expected her to handle/deal with the situations she faced. She is STRONGER than that!! AND there needed to be MORE between her and King Zachary. The final interaction between them was lack luster, and unbelievable for the course of events that transpired.

Why oh why does everyone think that a book must be 800 pages long to get someone to read it? Particularly when the rest of the series is in the (more readable) 3-400 range? IT DOES NOT. Please stop. This book is so overwritten and dreary that it was a real chore to get through it. If I didn't so enjoy the series I would've given up long ago. I'm not even going to tell you anything more about it. So if you must, go ahead and finish the series. But don't say I didn't warn you.
