Liz Curtis Higgs builds this two part story into a beautiful climax with this, the sequel to Here Burns My Candle. Though anyone who has read the story of Naomi and Ruth knows exactly where the story is going, we still fall in love as Elisabeth does, struggle with her journey, and feel the pain of the issues she’s going through.The beauty of the first book carries over into this sequel and it’s almost impossible to believe that these two women have traveled this far and grown this much. As we watch Marjory carry the burdens of her loss and grow through the tragedy, we also see her become a completely different person.God’s grace shines easily through Higgs’ tale and as the story progresses to its conclusion, it’s easy for us all to see what God requires of us in our daily lives as well. If you didn’t notice it yet, I loved this two part series. Higgs writing is taut, the plot lines are deep and resonating and the characters are beautiful and easy to love. Two thumbs up from me on each of these books!Review copy provided by publisher. Listening in the car... has a slow but purposeful build up of plot. Characters are developing slowly but then something happens to strengthgen their resolve to face the cdircunmstances. I am really liking how at each turn the characters call on their faith and the reader can witness this spiritual growth emerging.Also, love the quotes at the begining of each chapter from famous, literary, or philosophical background. mr. romeo has not been introduced yet... but i feel confident it will be soon.
