About book Mighty Queens Of Freeville: The True Story Of A Mother, A Daughter, And The People Who Raised Them (2009)
So far the author is witty and competent and knowledgeable. While putting feelings into real down to earth, real people thoughts that many if us can relate to. This book was so awesome as it relates to me in so many ways. Her wit and total honesty and her way of describing all of life's endurance tests is so down to earth and with a lot of charm. I have been to Freeville ny. I am from north of Syracuse near Lake Ontario Sad that this book ended. It will surely be recommended . And ps- I cried a lot when my daughter went away to college. Coming from a family of strong, resilient women, I "get" this book. I love the imagery and phrasing in this book. It clarifies so many of the scenes, capturing the mood and feelings perfectly. An example is when her mother would come home from work, lie down on the bed with her purse across her stomach, asking for "just 20 minutes." After this brief respite, her mom would then get up, make dinner, and push through the rest of her day. No whining, screaming, or pity-party..."just 20 minutes." It is a book about persevering and appreciating what you have, through the many circumstances of life. I feel like I just reunited with a long-lost friend over coffee. This is a KEEPER for me.
