Chuck D has OCD. A senior in a Connecticut high school, he has a best friend, Steve, who knows about his problem. The book begins in January, after winter break, second semester, as AP exams loom on the horizon, and other things seniors love, like prom and a tradition known as senior weekend when the whole class will go camping at a nearby wood.Chuck and Steve are not so nerdy as the "mathletes" or cool as the athletes but they are in all AP classes including calculus. Enter the new girl, Amy, who is pretty and unattached and completely without the baggage of all the other girls in the high school. Amy is in Chuck and Steve's calculus class and needs to catch up for the exam.When Chuck begins to tutor her, his life opens up in a way that makes him want to rid himself of his compulsions. His parents set him up with a psychiatrist who prescribes the lexapro of the title, and Chuck D's cons in all shades to indicate his mood are the cons.The writing is breezy and goes by in a flash, with an ending to satisfy everyone.Why I enjoyed this book:it captures senior year's moodit de-sexualizes compulsive beating offit has humor in unexpected placesthe grown ups are caring and effectiveits denouement depends on the friendship of the boys not the romance. This is the best book I have read in my entire life. And I've read quite a few books.The protagonist in this has OCD and tries to overcome the disorder. As a person who can heavily relate to this since I have severe OCD, I just felt like a had a connection with this character as if him and I had been friends for our entire life.Even if you can't relate to the book as much it's still a great read! During the book there are many different jokes that are made, but it's still able to have some drama into also. Not many books that I have read are able to have comedy and drama and make me to this day like it.
